Ok, kinda a stuipid question, but some of you have tons of experiance. I was driving the other day and my check engine light came on. Nothing has changed as far as sound, performance and I cannot find anything wrong. The only thing I have done to the car since I got it was tighten the alternator belt, but could that cause the check engine light to come on? Thanks! :talon:

Yeah, you're right about that, but I've got a hook up with a guy at AZ that runs a nice neon..... he's pretty cool.... he doesn't charge me....

I'm very curious about the code..... post it up......

Well I was reading other posts about CEL and I tried disconnecting the negitive battery wire. I did and not more CEL!! for now anyway!! If it comes back on I will take it to an auto parts store... Thanks :talon:

That just honestly resets your ecu until it notices the code again.
Usually if your buy a auto store and you get a CEL you should bring it right over there turn off the car then crank it to make sure the CEL returns.

Remember this, resetting the terminal everytime you get a cel is just "hiding the problem".
Check them!

^^^^ Yep...... When your cars throws a CEL at ya, go directly to your next Auto Zone and they will read it for you, they can't, but they will hook you up with a scanner and you can do it in the parking lot.
They usually just ask you for your ID or something like that as collateral.

I think I was just low on oil. I put some in and it seems to run great again. I will take her in right away if it comes back on. THanks!! :thumb:
