Went for a drive today, and the Talon started out just fine like always. Took off, and as I'm getting up to cruising speeds and temperatures, my CEL comes on. Huh?

It goes on fine for a minute or more, then starts to miss and shake really bad. I let my foot off the gas, it keeps going, put my foot back down and nothing happens. I pull it down to a stop, and it's fighting to stay alive, and eventually stalls. Won't start back up. hrmm.

I turn it off completely, get out, pop the hood, and start wiggling around with the TPS connector, and start it up. It goes fine for a little while, I get back on the road and figure it must have just come a little loose.

Same thing happens four or five minutes later.

I limp home, and pull out my meter to try and pull the codes- now it's not doing it.

Anyone ever hear of this happening or know what might be causing it?

This is on a completely stock 1992 TSi.

Does anyone have any clue? Could it be a bad TPS?

It happened again this morning, and I noticed my ECU clicking- is that indicative of anything?

Check your ECU. My car did the same EXACT thing, even with a know, good ECU that I replaced my original ECU with. I later started down the list of maintanance, since I needed to do it anyways. You get complete loss of power right? As if the throttle does not respond? If so, it would have to be the ECU. Like I said, that the car still acted like that even after I changed the ECU to a known good one. Turns out the ECU wasn't good after all and I just recently replaced it with yet another one. So far so good. NO stalling and the throttle response is great.

Go here and look under "Intake". http://www.vfaq.com/index-main.html

If car is stalling, ECU will click when it shuts off, mine was doing this. If ECU is clicking while driving, before car stalls, maybe a loose connection? Might sound silly, did you check battery terminals?

My battery terminals are all snug and well connected and everything.... So I don't know... I'm going to take my throttle body off and check my TPS and everything tomorrow monring... Maybe it needs to be adjusted?
