all belts spin but the timming and the timming belt is tight

i dont know what is wrong if someone could help it would be greatly appreciated i was driving it for a little while and i noticed it was making a weird knocking noise so i went my frineds house turned it off and could not find anything wrong all the pillys were tight so i started it up agian reved it a few time up to about 3000 rpms and then let it sit there and i still heard the knocking and then the engine just died any ideas
 
-You need to provide more info about your car before any one can help you, put as much info (ie: auto/5 sp; mods; milage...) in the vehicle profile.

-Most likely the timing belt's teeth had been stripped at the crank, the crank turn but there's more teeth on the timing belt at the crank area for the sprocket to grap on to, ususally this happen because oil leak damage the belt or belt is old or tensioner/pully worn....
