I did a boost leak test using an air compressor at my mechanics place and when I went into the car to monitor the boost guage it went to 1psi and wouldn't go any higher. Went to the engine bay and we heard it leaking like mad out of the Intercooler, we felt around and it was on the top part of the core where the end tank meets.
The cars always felt kind of weak since I put this intercooler (was when I swapped out the crankwalked engine last year) and I also put a 14b at the same time.
I can't understand why my spark plugs are very light colored as if I was running lean, if I've had this huge boost leak. Also I've noticed that the engine has been running pretty rough lately. I tried changing the wires and checked the plugs and they were fine, but it made no difference, can the boost leak be causing this?
The last thing is that I am able to get 15psi by around 3000-3200 RPMs on a 7 bolt with stock exhaust, UIP, LIP, Supra sidemount, but when I am off-boost and step on the gas at somewhere between 3000-4500rpms, it takes a few hundred rpms to spool to the full 15psi, is this normal for the boost leak? Seems very slow, and if I am hitting 15psi with that leak, does that mean the turbo is actually working EXTRA hard to give me 15psi past that leak?
TIA
