ok i have a 91 tsi awd. and i have a knock problem.i dont know if it is "phantom" knock but it is so random that it pisses me off.i have a knock box by the way so i can see when it happens. sometimes its when i first start the car it will jump between 0 and3 and when i rev it upit will just go up with the revs unless i rev it to 4-5k a couple times in a row.but it mostly hapens when i take off from a red light or something, just like normal driving, it will shoot up to 43 and the car bogs.and it stays at 43 untill i let off the gas completly or i rev it acouple times. then on the highway ill be crusing and the exhaust will get real low and i look at knock and its at 43 then flip out. it started happening after a timing belt change, so im guessin that has something to do with it. i wont be driving this car much longer, untill my 92 gets a new tranny, then this one is going under the knife. any ideas?
