Oh man.....with DSM's the problems never stop  . I rebiult my head recently and now that i have everything put together ive had some problems. When i go to drive my car at around 4.5 5.5 RPM the engine makes this rattleing noise that i have no idea where it is comeing from.. There seems to be no power once it starts makeing that noise. then when i drive the car the oil press. is fine but when i part it and let it idle to cool the oil pressure drops drastically low that it even kiks in the low oil light. Plenty of oil in car. The car is a 91 TSI :talon: . Never had any of these problems from DSM's before so i was wondering if anyone has anyidea what could be wrong. Also my car throws a service light i love to see what it says but i cant find anyone with a code scanner around me.....plz help

Tom

i am having the same problem on my 91 tsi its really confusing but mine is also overheating. i just replaced the balance shaft belt the last one had no teeth at all and i still have the same problems?? the timing is all lined up and good. what else could it be? im getting 150 compression all the way across.

You guys be careful about the ballance shafts and their bearings. I eliminated mine in car and the rear shaft's bearing had a low spot at the bottom. I think that I probably saved my engine. The front one is still in the car without a belt, but everything works well.

I think that most engines with higher mileage will begin to see ballance shaft bearing failures. I read an article about how the Nissan SE-R engines (older ones like ours) have begun to fail due to bearing failures. The ballance shafts spin at higher rpms than the crank, and also are an unballanced rotating assembly which is heard on bearings and surrounding metal surfaces. The block's metal around the bearing in my car was actually discolored blue from heat over the years.

Hope this helps someone.
Good Luck.

ok i just flushed out my rad and it didnt really help but i noticed that the rad is molded and falling apart at the bottom of it but i dont think it leaks but i will replace it and that might get rid of my overheating problem but as for the oil pressure low im gunna ad some lucas oil to it and maybe it will help out. ill prolly just sell the car and buy something else i dunno i love this car alot just tired of the problems.. OMG

well OMG i just replaced the balance shaft belt before i found out about all this so yeah thats fun. now that its installed my engine vibrates alot at 3500 rpms and i hear a knocking noise every so often down there. i Dont really have the time to do a bse so what if i just cut that belt back off and leave the back one in for now how would that be??
