My front passenger side axle won't go all the way into the transmission. there is about a quarter inch gap inbetween the seal and where the axle should be touching. I tried hitting the axle in with a hammer right by the boot and it wont go in any farther. I checked the clip and it looks fine. anyone have any ideas?

did you make sure the old clip some how didn't get left behind. sounds to me that you need to step back take a deep breath and try to put it in again

you have to make sure the splines line up correctly as well. One idea would be to have someone rotate the driver's side wheel and let the differential rotate the axel to match up, or just rotate the axel it's self until it goes in. If that doesn't work, inspect everything and make sure that you aren't binding...

You're telling me. The other week after I pulled my transmission for the 3rd time (don't ask), I couldn't get the damn passenger side axle in the damn tranny. I was litterally trying for close to 2 hours. Finally, I prayed to God that it would go in, and right after that, it popped right in. Go figure.

And yes, I know there is a c-clip and the splines need to line up, it wasn't me, it was that damned axle.
