the old belts on my car were squeeling sooo much, so i replaced them and now they seem to be squeeling even worse... did i tension them too much? what should they be tensioned with and how do i do it? thanks.

everything seems to line up and the pulley in question isnt seperating, it looks brand new. what tension should i have on these belts? like whats the reading i should see on a tension gauge?

Also make sure the belts are the proper ones (width, depth, and length).

Inch deflection when pressing middle point of belt with 22 lb force (or just tension gauge tension in lbs with no force):

Alternator: .31-.42 (77-121)
Power steering: .24-.28 (77-99)
A/C: .26-.30 (57-75)

If you think you overtensioned it, just loosen it. If you think you undertensioned it, tighten it.

You do this with the little alternator mount slider.

my dsm has new belts and I spray the hell outta them and guess what... they still squeel like mad, and so do all of my friends with dsm's so maybe its just one of those things. (gulp* I hope)

If your belts are squeeling somethings wrong - it's not normal and should be looked at. Try to find which belt is sqweeling and remove it. Check to see if all the pulleys it turns turn smoothly without noise. You may have a bad bearing in one of them.

Well, I am taking it into the dealer tomorrow because I think I blew my turbo and it is all under warranty so I'll have them look at it then. Ill let you all know what the problem is.
