Ok, I've been goofing with this car long enough, now I need some advice.

Its a 1990 Eclipse GSX Mods: 16g,K&N,Hacked Maf,Magnecore 8.5mm wires, NGK BPR6ES plugs (gapped), ACT2600, 3" Exhaust, EGR blockoff plate, Emissions & AC Removed.

Today I hooked up a boost leak tester and fixed all of my boost leaks that I found. Also the stock 1g BOV that I had on would leak out of the dump tube so I switched it out with another one I had and fixed that problem.

No More boost leaks
New Wires
New Plugs
New Timing Belt
New Headgasket

The Problem:
Today I took it for a spin to see If I fixed the hesitation problems under boost when it starts to build. I started to build boost in 2nd gear and the car started jerking violently as normal and I watched the tach at the same time. The tach was jumping from 3k - 7k to 4k-9k It was crazy, so I let off and it began to run normal. Tryed it again and started acting up again with the irratic tach. So I turned around to take it home when I made the turn before my street and the car started to sputter bad even off of boost, Check engine light came on and stayed on, it sounded like It was a lawnmower. I tried to limp it home but the hill before my house It wouldn't make it and it stalled. I attempted to start it back up and it wouldn't fire up. Eventually after awhile the car started and ran fine.

Now question is, does anyone have any suggestions on to what I could check to get this car running again ?Any help would be appreciated.

I would change your fuel filter. Sounds to me that it is clogged up or just in need of a replacing. Try that and see if it helps.

I'll try the fuel filter but, I don't see that throwing a CEL and making my tach act crazy. Thanks for responding :)

Check ur cam positioning sensor to see if it is working properly that's where ur fireing order comes from hense ur tach signal if it not working right it will cause u all kinds of probs like the ones ur describing"tach jumping" exsedera! :talon: :laser: :dsm:

First thing I would to is check the code your ecu is putting out.

How do you check the cam angle sensor ?

Ok I will check the codes, but the light ain't on now. Did it store it ? Also I don't have a logger and I am gonna use the voltmeter code check as per the manual.

Thanks

the maf is the normal hack just from the free mods page on the vfaq. Silencer removed, screw backed out. Am I running too lean causing the car to jerk and its running out of fuel ? BTW this problem started AFTER the headgasket/ timing job. Before it would run good but at 5k in 3rd gear it would not accelerate anymore then i'd shift and it seemed laggy.
