well so far i've checked everything on my car. I've used the factory mitsu/chrysler manual and checked everything it tells you to check for causes of a rough idle.

what i've come up with:

-tb shaft seal leaking
-intercooler has holes in the one pipe (fixed with duct tape)
-car boosts 17psi when its cool out and 16 decreasing to 14 when its hot out, holds 17 fine when its cool tho.

very rough idle, 10 inHg, sounds like a miss, but all wires seem to be getting spark, i do need a new set of wires tho, #4 tested bad, but still gets spark through it.

this car is getting to be frustrating trying to fix it and everything i do doesnt seem to do the trick.

when i taped the intercooler up it made it idle the slightest bit better. i also replaced the ISC and it doesnt stall anymore.

it sounds like i have a leak around my leak tester. im starting to think it might be the turbo seals, on the compressor.

will those little of leaks cause the car to idle like its got a huge vacuum/boost leak?

i'm trying to tune the thing and i can get the o2 trim to settle around zero (for low throttle), but i can't get the low fuel trim to come down from 139. i replaced the o2 sensor and the low trim was at 100 for a while, and i got way better gas mileage. now it went back up to 139 and i get much much worse gas mileage. my mid and high trim were in the 80's, and for some reason they've come back around 100.

can it be the weather that is making my car change so much in the fuel trims? it's been fairly hot lately.

mods include:
3" intake w/ 1g mas (soon to be 2g mas) & 1g k&n filter
2.5" exhaust from the o2 housing back (no cat)

my fuel pressure seems fine and all the injectors seem to be operating fine as well.

do you guys think its the small vacuum leaks that make my car idle around 10 inHg and very lumpy, like i've got a miss. everyone tells me i've got a miss, but i'm 100% sure i don't, because the car screams like a raped date when its not idling.

sorry for the long post, but i dunno what to do. can't wait until i have enough money to fix my honda :thumb:

hey,

i've got a lot of the same problems that you have. -10 vac. at idle, sounds like it's missing. TB shaft seals are bad.

i kept thinking that i had either burned valves, blown rings or my timming was massively off... i'm still trying to figure it out. i've got a 95 Tsi AWD with a 6 bolt in it. if i think of anything else i'll let you know. :thumb:

10in/hg is most likely one of these: vac/boost leak, ignition or cam timing off.

What is the voltage from the front o2, when mine had a fuel trim problem it read .00 volts all the time.

the o2 sensor's been replaced and it cycles at idle from .02 to .8 or so.

the ignition timing is correct from what i can tell, with the test light. im still new to dsm's so it could be off, but im changing the belt soon, so that will be worked out then.

the leak around the tester that i think might be the compressor seal. the turbo looks brand new, is it possible the other owner, might have ran the turbo pretty hard and cooked that seal? i thought the leak might be the tester it self, but im pretty sure it isn't.

the vacuum leaks just seem to minimal to make it idle the way it does.

are you venting or recirculating your BOV? i know if you vent, that can screw up your idle.... just a little thought. :thumb:

Have you have done all the following:
- Check for leaks in the intercooler, piping, clamps and ALL vacuum hoses. None found.

- Ignition timing is ok. ISC is ok. TB shaft seal is ok.

- You are not venting the bov.

- replace fuel filter and spark plug.

side note: I will give you $5 not to fix the honduh

would the ignition timing look dead on if the tbelt was off a tooth? the car sat for a while with no tranny in it. that might have rotted out the turbo seals.

def. fix the honda. you guys would probably like my honda, its a 91 civic wagon 4wd with 6 gears ;)

not venting the bov. i might like hondas, but im not dumb, like i said, i've checked everything, using the correct manual. went throught the vacuum lines 3 times, damn there is a ton. i bet if you reduce the length on them you're good for 1 hp to the wheels ;)

again thank you for all your help.

im trying to get this thing straightened out, because i would like to install my 2g mas.

anyone have problems with an intake with no hookups for the valve cover vent and the charc. canister? low fuel trim still stuck at 139% when i hooked the stock intake back up with both lines attached it went down, but then back up and down and up again.

p.s. new fuel filter, plugs, rewired the pump, checked the fuel pressure, tested the wires (need a set), checked the egr (blocked it off) and back to stock, checked all vacuum lines, checked mas/maf, checked for leaks (have minor ones), checked ign. timing (dead on), havn't checked engine timing. dont know how to... i assume there are marks, but its hot and i dont feel like crawling under the piece.

i also have a prob with the belt system. belts used to pop off and snap. i tore the whole thing apart and found lots wrong with it, so i replaces the Harmonic Dampener, belts, A/C tensioner and fixed what was wrong with it. Now sometimes the belts still come loose when i rev the engine and dump the clutch, i also get a burning belt smell and they produce lots of belt dust/dirt. maybe shitty water pump? or timing off?

and the car/engine rattles real lound in the morns when the engine is cold, up until 3k rmp, then the noise comes to a complete stop. after the engine fully warms up the noise is no longer there. balance shaftS?
