I drove my car about 3 days ago, it was running perfectly fine. I let it sit for about 3 days, I went to start it up after my weekend off of work and it turned over slowly and the battery died. So i figured that was the only problem. Since it was the 3rd crappy duralast battery i had to exchange, i traded it in for a optima battery. I put the new battery in, the car cranks over like a champ, but no start. My 255 pump is whining and my AFPR gauge is giving a good indicator for fuel pressure.

I have brand new everything. Wires, plugs, pump, injectors, etc.

I don't understand why it would run perfectly fine, then the next day just doesn't start at all, it's just wierd.

I am going to try to check for spark tomorrow and fuel on the plugs to be sure. I checked the engine fuse and the ECU doesn't have any signs of leaking or smells of being fried. I have no CEL on it either. Everything seems to be fine, the car just won't start?

Can anyone think of anything else i might be missing? Please help, i gotta have this thing running by friday night when i go to work.

I had the same thing happen to my 92 Laser and it was the ECU. it didnt stink like they usually do but I dropped a new ECU in it and she fired right up. Good luck!

I checked the fuses-all good

I am not getting any CEL lights

BUCK, are you going to be using that ECU that i gave to you with the car, or are you gonna get a different one due to it being a 90? Let me know, I will give you some money for it if you are gonna get rid of it. If you don't want to get rid of it, can i at least borrow it for about an hour to see if it starts with your ecu, before i go buy another one?

I've been doing some searches here and at dsmtalk, and it seems that the ECU's don't like it too much when the battery voltage gets low. They go bad due to low battery's, which is what i had, so i'm thinking that is what the problem is.

I've certainly seen first hand & read about them them go bad on High Voltage due to dead V/Reg in the Alt - I've not seen a Low Voltage ECU / death Thread / kill - We can work something out - I just wouldn't want this one to get killed as I may need it on my 91 someday - I'd have to have something ( $$ ) in case you plugged it in & smoked it...

I have a brand new alternator, i hope that isn't what did it, but i'm having an idea of what did do it now that you said that.

pm me the info how much you want for it. I can come pick it up tomorrow if that's o.k. with you.

BTW: getting anywhere with the 90?

$200 if you keep it - or if you smoke it - My rebuilt one for my '91 cost me $400 - It's hanging by the console so just grab it - You know where I live - I'm heading out early tomorrow so I doubt I'll be here - I won't be able to tear into the '90 until this Winter - Good Luck.

That sounds fine
If you happen to have the paper work for the stang, you can leave it there too so i can grab that also at the same time.

I'll come pick it up in the morning/afternoon sometime.

Thanks Buck

I'm gonna try to find one online, if not, i will buy yours for 2 hundred

Thanks Again Buck
