Ok so im just driving at like 25mph when i shift into third and my car sounded louder. I give it gas and my g@y turbo doesnt spool at all on my gauge. I pull over to find that the cotter pin that keeps the actuator rod to the flapper has disappeared. It was old and shitty .. it prolly broke or something..

Question.. can i put the rod back on the flapper while still on the car or do i have to take the turbo off , then the O2 housing .. then adjust the flapper from inside the turbo and put the whole f#cking thing back together.

I tried pulling the rod back over the flapper part and sliding it down .. but its like an 8th of an inch off..

Id obviously rather do it while its still on the car since i just f#cking put this stupid thing on a week ago.

Naw its hard as hell to pull the rod out of the actuator but if u get pliars on it You should be able to get it over the wastegate, you dont need to take the turbo off or anything.

haha prolly ..

Oh yeah and i have a different flapper in it too .. dont knwo if it makes a difference or not

Happened to me today on my 14b. I used some pliers to pull the actuator rod back onto the flapper. I stuck a paper clip in there and bent it a bit and called it a day.

Thought this might help someone in a bind. Thats why I revived the thread from 6 years ago, LOL.

I had a 14b that the cotter pin broke off of, leaving a chunk of it jammed in the tiny hole. Couldn't get it out so I put a glob of jb weld around the end of the flapper arm. It kept the rod from coming off for almost a year until the seals blew and off she went.

If your not lucky enough to have a hole in the flapper but just a slight relief I used an e clip it's held so far.
