Car Wont Start

When I try and turn on my car the thing will idle for like 3 seconds then die. When it is idling it knocks really bad. It really sucks cause I just blew all my money on the car two days ago

What have you checked? Have you had any power loss problems before this happened? Pull all your wires out. Get one spark plug and put it in each wire one at a time while someone cranks the engine. See which, if any are getting spark. If a single one is not getting spark, its most likely the wires or that spark plug. If 1 and 4 or 2 and 3 are not getting spark it could be any number of things. Most likely is coil pack. Could also be the transistor pack that gives power to the coil pack. If not that, check your ECU and CAS. Is the CEL on?

I haven't checked the spark plugs yet. I wasn't geting any power drop offs yesterday or the day before. I was at work last night and got like half way out of the parking lot and then the engine started making a really nasty rattling sound. kind of like something was loose inside there, then it died. Now every time I try and start it the car will run for around three seconds and then give out. But the thing knocks like a mother when it is on.

Does the car shake, or is the knock you refer to a noise?

It is sort of like there is anasty rattling sound right under the valve covers.

Here's an update on what I have done to the thing.
Me and my friend got under the car and it looks like someoe was playing around down there. The oil pressure sensor was unplugged and the wiring was a mess. I guess that the oil pressure was gone and that caused the nasty sound inside the engine. Besides the oil pump, what is there that would cause pressure to drop off like that?

I hate giving bad news, because I get alot of it, but if the above is true you may have spun a bearing or more than one, that would account for the loud knocking. Or if it's in the valve cover if the engine ran low on oil to the top end a lifter could have calapsed, or a rocker might be off. You need to figure out why there was no oil pressure and how long it went without pressure and what rpm it happen. thats important. You need to check all fluids also. is there a cel on?? my bet is that the oil filter wasn't oem and it basically exploded loosing all the oil (very common with our cars)never use fram oil filters. Anyway that may not be it. Just make sure the oil is clean and there is enough, but I still say you have internal damage. It don't take long for parts to fail when they are built to never touch
