Guelph,
This one is a little werid... and the problem happend after i got my new alpine deck installed... including a 12 amp pre out cable that goes from the deck ot the battery

anyways

the fist time i had a problem was when i was pulling out after i had the deck installed.

i went into first pulled away then put it in second gave it gas felt a little hickup amost and then my check engine light came on... i came to a stop and noticed that my idle was surging.. pissed off i drove home and left the car over night.

the next morning i drove to work just fine
no problems @ all
then on the way home about halfway
i was going about 80 and another very small hickup... like a small interupt in power...
and the check engine light came on again... came to stop @ the light and again with the check engine light

anyone know what could be happening here ?

somebody correct me if im wrong but sometimes your radio can interfere with your spark plugs, thats why they have the R in the name, like bp6res i think, i forget what the R is for but it keeps the radio from interfering with the spark. you might try this but im not sure since you said it happend after you installed the deck.

not that i have noticed but I will listen for it...

i have NGK plugs.. not sure of the part number though... and if it means anything its only happend when im listing to a cd... but that could just be luck or whatever.

ummm when i was having the deck installed.. they said that i would not need the 12 amp pre-out wire.. they had the car off they were blasting the system and then everything went dead because it needed that cable.. could that have anything to do with it ?

Only thing I can say is check your grounding on the head unit.

Random CELs and loss of power seems like a common problem associated with ECU capacitors leaking though. Was happening to me randomly and replacing my ECU caps fixed it.

As far as the headunit causing the problems I dunno. Never seen a stereo install, right or wrong cause that.

Unless you have some monster system draining the hell out of your battery/alternator but I dont think thats the case heh.
