coolant bottle

well i noticed today that i have one hose going into my coolant bottle from my thermostat housing to the bottle but where does the other hose from the bottle go and i was wondering can that cause the car to overheat

No, that the overflow hose. It dumps to the ground.

It's an overflow hose, like if the bottle gets full it will empty your coolant onto the ground. So it just sits there.

thanks guys i guess i have to get the head pulled to check the gasket whats a good labor price to change a head and gasket because if i'm going to pull the head i mine as well swap for the new rebuilt upgrade i have once agin thanks

I'd say around $700 at the most, but shop around, prices can vary quite a bit. Good luck though!

You could just have a bad radiator cap. What are the problems you're experiencing? When you say that it's overheating do you mean the gauge is indicating that it's overheating or is the coolant resevior over filling first and THEN the car overheats?

I purchased a radiator, cap, temp sensor, etc. and it still runs hot. it all started one day when I hit the highway and two minutes on the highway my upper hose breaks away from the radiator everything was replace from then on but now when you start it the temp gauge goes straight through the roof on the spot theres also a white to grayish smoke coming out the exhaust. so i stop starting it. also could the timing cause a overheat problem? also i forgot to say before it broke the hose off the radiator it started to stall every time i came to a stop unless i put my foot on the gas and clutch.

Smoke in the exhaust, overheating on the road, everything else replaced.... sounds like a headgasket problem now.
