Well, I went to the track for the first time. I ended up doing 15.0 and trapping 95mph. Reaction time was .12. Is this a good R/T? Anyways, I thought I was going to be in the mid to low 14s atleast with my mod list. Does this seem like the right time for these mods?:

small 16 ported
manual boost controller @ 17psi
injen intake
apexi n1 exhaust
rre downpipe
walbro 190
s-afc2
1st gen bov

Seems like a poor time consdering your mods... I pulled a 14.7 with stock turbo, stock boost, really bad clutch, bald tires.

My only mods were intake 2.5inch turbo back exhaust no cat...

What kind of 60' did you have?

How healthy is that motor?

60's are supose to be around 1.8. Good luck on your next run

He'll never hit that ;) FWD cars are lucky to get 2.0's on street tires, actually not even 2.0's. Get it at a 2.3 and you'll be in the mid 14's i'm sure. Put some drag radials on it.

My best 60' when I had my fwd was 2.1 that was with nitto 450's and a phantom grip gold.
but anyway, back in my fwd days my 95 with a 14b turbo would turn 14.3 @106 with a 2.4 60' so if your only traping 95mph with that mod list you having tuning issues somewhere.

I had nitto NT 450's bald when i ran my 14.7... my 60' was just over 2.0's... they were so god damn bald i got them wet.... the one time i didnt get them wet i got wheel hop...

Just practice your launch more, like at stoplights sometimes (if nobody is around :p ). Seriously though, try to get it down to 2.3 or 2.1 and you should be good. I think that time and trap speed are about right considering your 60'. You should be in mid-high 14s when you get the launch down.

Once you get the hang of launching, I would suggest some suspension work. You already have the GO power, but you need to be able to handle it. I see you already have Skunk2 C/Os, so try solid motor mounts, strut and sway bars, and some decent tires if yours are beat. Good luck!

I have some brand new Falken Ziex's on there.

How would strut/tower bars and motor mounts improve my speed/acceleration? I thought it'd only effect handling?

Someone stop me if im mistaken...

I have heard they reduce wheel hop?

Just curious, what octane you running, and are you pushing 17 psi on a stock SMIC, if so that could be one of your problems right there.

Yea that would be the point, suspension work most of the time goes hand in hand with solving traction and wheel hop issues.

That 60' time is bad. Practice those and you mid 14 timeslip will come. Don't rev it up and dump the clutch on street tires. You wanna drive thru your powerband not spin thru it. Spinning tires means going nowhere.

I have similar mods as you but haven't been to the track yet with them. When I was all stock I ran 15.1 @ 92mph. Defidently work on your 60'

then you will see even better times with 550's or 650's and a FMIC.

You really need somthing bigger than 450 when on 17psi, thats just reckless and waiting for somthing bad to happen.

Derek

A stock SMIC can handle what the 16G. It just can't do it over and over at the track. Let if cool down between runs or buy a better intercooling system.

As for your 60' times.... you need to work on them badly. Sounds like you just rev and go. Learn your powerband better than you know it now.

You need to work on your suspension and not just the towerbars/motor mounts. Get yourself a set of adjustables and some G/C to lower it some. Hard as shit in the rear and soft as a babies ass in the front. Slip it till you get it and rooolll on down the track. Your turbo has gone in the 12's with a proper tune and setup. ;)
