Well my old battery died this past week and I take the new battery from my Catera and put that into the Talon. Well it was running fine for those 3 days or so. I go out to start the car and it wn't turn over, but I still have power to light up gauges, headlights and the like. Now my problem is I think lies w/in the alternator. Though I'm not positive on that aspect. Also when I turn the key into the acc. position there is a fast clicking sound. Please, any help would be appreciated.

I'm not trying to be smart or anything, but is something left on in your car? If not, common signs of a bad alternator is kind of a whining sound when your car goes up in rpms. I sounds kinda like a supercharger almost...if its possible to hear that over the turbo. Also, the battery light will be on when you are driving.

I had my Bumper to Bumper guy look up the Highest Amp Mitsu Alternator that would fit a 1G:

- Max amperage 121 amps

- 100 amps at 3000rpm

- Max 1548 watts

- Manufacturer Ampere - Ampere P/N 21491

- Cost was about $150.00

- I run a 1 Farad Cap too with an El-Cheapo Battery that pushes a 500 Watt Sony Amp & head Unit no problems - no dimming, etc.

I put it on Car Ramps & come from underneath so no need to remove Fan - It's still a PITA...

Make sure you have NO Power Steering Fluid leaks dripping on your Alt - that will kill the Voltage Regulator in a Heartbeat & can toast your ECU...

Well nothing is left on in the car. Completely stock. Tomorrow I'm going to see if it is the alternator by using a friends battery and starting the car up. Then pulling the battery out and if the car dies, then the alternator is where the problem lies.

Well I tested out the alternator. Runs fine. So I'm stumped as to why the battery is being drained in a day and a half of sitting in the car.

So it took me awhile due to work, but I've finally diagnosed the problem. The ECU I purchased awhile back to replace my stock burnt out ECU hasa short. Everytime I turn the car off the ECU turns the fuel injectors on. Thus my 2amp draw that is killing my battery so fast. So I called a local shop and asked for a solution to this. I can either go out and buy a ECU or just pull out the blue 20 amp fuse next to the positive battery terminal everytime I stop.
