Just bought a junkyard motor and installed it into my car. The engine had been sitting for 2 or so yrs before i bought it soo i was told. I isntalled the timing belt and all that stuff.. is it just that i have bad valves or rings in both those cylinders or could the timing be off ?

Check for valves being cracked. When my car had no compression(like 20 or 30?) in #3 it was because of a burnt/chewed up exhaust valve. Chances are thats your problem if it's a junkyard motor and has been sittin for awhile. An easy way to check is to take off your exhaust manifold and look in the ports with a flashlight to see if you have some chewed up valves or if your really lucky, you could have some valves chewed up on the intake side ;)

You should just do a wet compression test if you want to find out if it is valves or rings. Just do the regular compression test then put in a teaspoon or so of oil and try again. If there is a increase in compression it is your piston rings if not its valves.
