ok first things first....this is my first post...GREAT board, tons of info....
im currently looking to buy a DSM, i went today to look at a 93 tsi awd.....
When trying to start the car all i hear is a clicking noise. I ran a search for this problem might have found the answers but would like to double check because a few things were different then what has been posted so far that i found. The first difference is the ecu/relay is only clicking ONCE. when you turn the key to the start posistion you get one click, and you must turn the key back to off posistion then back to start to hear the click again.....
now the history i know so far on this car, are the wires from the fuse box to the radio are burnt to a crisp, and the wires from the relay box in the motor compartment from the cooling fan relay are also fried. The bottom and top end of the car has been rebuilt...exact reasons im not sure...blown motor ect ect. Has an upgraded turbo (16g) not sure which brand all i do know is that it is upgraded. Also has the proper gauges, BOV, and turbo timer. Now with that being said and the one click issue, would you think it to be the the ECU, relay, or starter? Other info that you might be abe to use, this person is selling the car for $1300, has the above mentioned upgrades, and aftermarket alum rims and wheels, body in good condition, interior also in good condition, the man bought this car in this condition about 2months ago as a project, but is now to busy to worry with this one at the moment.....with this being said would you believe 1300 to be a good price for this vehicle if the problem can be diagnosed and fixed with some sort of ease?, I know some of what i asked as been answered and debated a thousand times, but please bare with me for this post.
Thanks,
The new guy
