Am I going to need to replace my fuel tank if I snap one of these bolts? (It looks wet, because Ive been soaking everything in wd-40). (This is the top of my fuel pump from my 91 gsx, in case you can't recognize it.)

The broken bolt may not be your only problem. Mine is corroded like that and the fuel line wont come off for anything. I even tried heating it with a torch .. Im probably guna have to cut the line and take a impact wrench to it and just buy a new sending unit. This has really been holding me back on my mods because i cant get the 255 fuel pump in. If anyone knows where i can get a new sending unit besides the dealer please let me know.

Well, I am fairly certain I am not going near the gas tank with a torch. I am not concerned about the fuel fitting itself. If I have to cut it and get a new one that's one thing, but I don't want to be buying a new 800$ gastank if there is another option.

The threads on the fuel fitting are obviously still in good shape, but I can't feel any threads left on those tiny tiny studs coming out of the fuel tank. I was hoping the studs themselves were replacable or somehting.

You can always drill it out and get new studs. If all else fails, drop the tank, weld some new studs in there, drill out the pump assembly to fit the new studs, and get some nuts to go on there. All in all, those nuts shouldn't be all that hard to get off. You can't really over-tighten them, or else they'll strip. If a wrench doesn't do the job, try getting a tight grasp with some vice-grips (and be sure to use PB Blaster).

simple green eats rust?

The reason I'm concerned is those studs feel like the threads been eaten away. I guess I'll call around and see who does tank repair.

well it should unscrew if it don't it will just brake off the bolt. but then you can put a litle bigger ones in there its no big deal. but don't know about the fule line. (i would keep anything flamable out of there if u still wanna drive ur babby)
