Only running 6lbs of boost!

I have a 1990 talon tsi with a turbo with 70,000 miles on it and its only running 6lbs of boost. I checked all Connections and hoses and all is fine. I also am putting the right kind of gas in it 93 so its not knocking...

About a month ago the hose that was running from my blow-off valve back to the intake was cut open(it was open for about 3 days), so it took in unfiltered air...could that be the problem? I bought a new hose though for it and replaced it, but i just dont know if that would effect it that much.

We are just stumped because i should be running 10 lbs, right?

-Might be your BOV is stuck open, disconnect the big hose from the BOV to the intake hose(pre-turbo), start the motor, check to see if any air is coming out from the BOV's opening. If you have a MightyVac hand pump is even better, hook the pump's hose on to the BOV's nibble, pressurize the BOV to check for leak and at what psi the BOV open. There's instruction on here some where on how to build a intake leak test with hardware from Home Depot, b/c you might have more broken vacuum hose(s).

Could be a sticky wastegate or wastegate actuator.
