I just put a T3/T4 on my talon with a FMIC. I am not really feeling that much power at all. I had the same problem with the 14B on the car. It has a knock that develops AFTER the car has warmed up. I replaced lifters with new ones and it didnt change at all. Rod,Mains are perfect, i even removed the balance shafts. I looked at my KS and it has spilled its goo. Could this cause my car to run really slow and just pull RPM's, BOOST, and still make no power. If i unplug it could i diagnose if it was bad or would that not change anything. I just dont want to spend $50 on a new one if it is not the problem, like i have been doing.
I was thinking it starts knocking after the computer goes into Closed loop cause the KS is bad and it is not advancing my timing.
thanks
Tom

I am already on top of that now, If this doesnt work then i am clueless. Does anyone know for a FACT that if it is bad that the car will not advance or retard the timing and not letting my car to run to its full potential.

would you have and evidence on why its a good idea. Is it cause of what i said on if they go bad they wont advance the timing or retard it. I am not the type of person that throws parts at my car cause i dont know whats going on, i like to find the problem and see why it started to begin with, if evident.

If your knock sensor is bad or giving bad readings then the computer will have to go by what is in its memory tables and retard timing from what it reads on the O2 sensor and other varibles that reflect what is going on in the motor, therefore causing a lose in power output of the motor because it will always retard the timing to keep the motor from blowing up. Hope this helps you a little bit, if not I can try and explain it better if needed. :thumb: later.

OK first of all, if the knock sensor has spilled it's goo, it NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. The sensor is DEAD and USELESS.

Next, if the ECU is seeing a dead knock sensor, or too high of a knock count, it will retard timing quite a bit. This is because, if you were actually getting knock, retarding the timing would get rid of the knock.

Also, retarded timing means bad performance. If you change the knock sensor and reset the ECU, your timing will be back to normal, and it will be advanced as it should be.

In conclusion, just replace the sensor, unplug the ecu or neg battery terminal for 1 hour, hook it back up, and give the ECU a few days to relearn, and you will be back in business! I hope my post broke it down enough for ya :D
