oxygen sensor prob or?

ok i think somthing is causing my 02 sensor to go bad or its just a coincidence.my car reads lean and it acts like its running on 2 cylinders and the code said bad O2 so i bought a new bosch unit then the problem went away for about 40 miles then it happened again, and whats weird is i will be driving down the road and it starts acting up i just turn the key off then back on and it runns fine for about a mile or two then i will turn it off then on and i will keep repeating this till i got home. i then went and got another O2 sensor and the same thing it lasted about 40 miles.am i getting bad O2's or is somthing causing them to go bad or is it just somthing else.basically i think its running on two cylinders when this happens because i can smell gas really bad and it smokes and it runns pegged lean on my a/f guage please someone help these O2's are costing me $135 each. thanks curt

I hear you mine is out 2 and performance is definantly tied down. Freakin A lost to an integra last night. But it ok I just wanted him to leave me alone mostly. but prostreetonline gots pretty good prices for 02 and I ordered mine sat and it still has not came but the status is shipped

When you said the o2 lasted only 40miles, how did u come to that conclusion, did you have another CEL for the o2 sensor?

Usually running on 2 clyinder or that feeling deals with spark. I would check to make sure your wires are on all the way, then check the plugs.

the plugs are new and i dont have wires cause im running the msd w/the buschur coil on plug set up.i didnt read the new cel because its the same exact problem i had before and everytime i put a new ox sensor in the car runs normal again.i was wondering could antafreeze getting on the o2 cause them to burn up?
