this question is about a honda so no jokes, i know there bad. the crank pulley wont come off and the engine spins the way the that the pulley needs to be turned so that method cant be used. there are no holes in the pulley and no way to brace it. the book says to use a strap wrench but were trying to avoid that part. we tried a huge breaker bar and it just twisted the engine. any thoughts.

The pulley doesnt spin off, there is a bolt in the center of the pulley that comes out. You can use an impact wrench to get it off or if its 5 spd, you can put it in reverse and have someone hold the brakes while you break it loose with the breaker bar.

i didnt mean that is would spin off, i meant to brace it and use the starter to break it loose. it is an automatic so we cant do that thing. and the impact gun does not have enough power. thanks for the thoughts. does anyone have anymore.

Get the big wrench to fit the hex inside the pulley. Its pricey from honda but I think some aftermarket vendors are selling the relatively cheap($25-35) Wish I could help you more but from working on hondas in the past, the special wrench is about the only way I was able to find on auto cars.
