Ok, So ive got the tire, brake caliper, and brake rotor off the back passenger side of my car. I removed the wheel hub grease cover, and removed the wheel hub nut. I slide the well hub assebly off. Now, I a problem. the wheel studs on the back of a 1g w/ abs are in between the wheel hub assembly and another rotor type thing (that the threaded ends of the studs actually stick out of), so if you were to just pound it out you couldn't, because the back of the stud is against the wheel hub. The wheel hub and "other rotor like part" are very tightly pressed together and I cant seem to find away to get them apart. So has any every swapped out one of these studs before and if so is there a special puller to pry the wheel hub assebly from the other piece that holds in the studs????? any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

-According to my manual, you have to get the rear hub assembly off the axel thingy by removing the one large nut in the center, the rotor like thingy is the dust shield.

I know this topic is way old but I'm sure there are people looking for the answer. As for a car with abs that "rotor type thingy" is not the dust shield. It is the abs trigger wheel. It is part of the sensor that the abs reads to know when to apply and pulse the brakes. The vfaq for removing abs from 1gs has been down for some time but you can pretty much just die grind it in about three places and drive a large flat screwdriver into the grinds to split that trigger wheel off making wheel stud replacement a snap. The abs system on a car of this age is way too crappy to keep on the car anyways. If you like abs however you will have to go to a machinist and get the hub pressed out of the housing separating the assembly from the trigger wheel so you can replace the studs and then have them press the assembly back together. Hope this helps.
