Engine turns but doesn't start...ECU?

Ok, I'm new to the 1G Eclipse. I have a 90 GST...I bought the car cheap for $700 bc it had a blown head gasket and the owner didnt have the money to fix it. Well after the guys at the shop put everything back together, they couldnt get no fire....the mechanic traced all the 12v wires and grounds, everything was good except some kind of multi injector sensor(i dont know the exact name) but they installed a new one from Mitsubishi. Well the car still wont start. The engine turns real strong but no start...the guy was running a bunch of diagnostics and said he is 99.9% sure it's the ECU...so I rush home and Google it. Well as you all know by now, the early 90's DSM have a piece of a ECU, I found that even a the voltage from trying to start the car can blow them. I also found that some people can crank their car but have a crappy idle prob and some cant even get any fire if their ECU is blown, is there anything else it can be....i already ordered an ECU so at least i have a backup if it is something else. By the way, the car had a Jspec put in about a year ago and it now has 60k on it.

The power transister can be bad, or the coil pack. get a chiltons book and look into the steps to test them.

hey my 1g did the same thing it was turning over just fine but the plug wires were not getting any fire at all.. after changing plugs, wires, ignition coil, and some other stuff including the ECU, we finally found the problem, it was the camshaft sensor that had went bad, its located on the passenger side of the head, and its a circular metal sensor that has one plug going into it. As soon as i replaced that it fired right up, hope i could help you post up and let me know if it was the problem..

PS i found one of those in a friends 1g parts car so check junkyards, my local mitsu dealership quoted me 499.99 for one and i paid 10 bucks in the end .later.

Thanks for the help guys...The plugs and wires are brand new, I guess Ill wait for the ECU to come in and then if that doesnt work I'll check that cam sensor....haha, I'm not used to all these sensors and cams, man I miss my RX-7.....thanks guys

Smell the ECU, mine stank like hell after it blew up.
