MAS question (Car won't start)

OK, I've been working on my car for at least two months now. It won't start. It's got gas and spark. So I've got to say it's not getting O2. I was told if I unplug my Mass Air Flow Sensor it should start and then I can plug it back in and it should run fine. I'm hesistant to try it cause I don't what it will do to my motor. Is this ok to do and will it work? If it will tell me cause I need to get it running NOW.
