I am halfway new to this DSM thing. A friend of mine has a 95 GS-T 5spd, 115k miles. Car runs great, engine makes no wierd noises besides a small amount of valve tick.

NEwayz, to the point. If you watch the crankshaft pully when the car is revved the pully moves toward the engine, but only when you rev it up....it comes back to where it should be while it comes back to an idle.
I know its not a bent pully or anything because there is no "wobble" and it does not do this when at idle, only when you rev it. Is this crankwalk? If not what else could it be?

Do you know the basic symptoms of crankwalk? The most accurate way is to measure the crank play with a feeler gauge. If I can find the website that will walk you through it, I will post it.

I would say crank walk I had no symtoms when I walked. The crank should move ever so slightly, It shouldnt be noticable. Get a feeler gauge take off the oil pan and know for sHure. Drive it till it dies then buy a 6 bolt. IM STILL SAVING FOR MINE :shhh: :thumb: .

Well from what i can see the crank pully moves between 1/4 to 1/2 inch towards the block. (to the left if your standing infront of the car.)

Ive read up on the symptoms of crankwalk and i drove the car today and the clutch doesnt do anything wierd when turning left or right at high or low speed.....i basically have no clue what its doing or why......

Yes... check to see if the crank pulley is trying to separate. There have been quite a few people with 2g's that have had it happen to them. As a matter of fact one of my friends had it happen to him. Good luck! :thumb:

It's more than likely NOT crankwalk. I had the exact same problem; the belt on my crank pulley came off about a month ago and shifted the pulley so far to the left that it was literally knocking against the frame. I took it to a mechanic, got it checked out, and it was simply a worn harmonic balancer. The whole job costed me $300 dollars. I hate how some of the people on this site automatically scream crankwalk whenever the word "crank" is mentioned..

It was just the pully (thank god) So no biggie.....
Thanx for the heads up, i would have never thought of that if it wasnt for this forum! thanx again

Well, what do you think happens when your crank walks? It moves, and takes anything thats connected to it along with it..like say, hmm a crank pully, along with your rods. I didn't say it was crankwalk, I just said it was a possiblilty. I had a friend whose 7 bolt walked and you can actuall see the pully move. I'm not screaming crankwalk whenever anything goes wrong
