I'm having horrible idle. When I start the car, it idles very erratically below 1,000 RPMS. There's no specific rhythm to it, it's very random. The car stutters, thumps, and really feels like it's missing hard.

For example, the RPMS could be at 800 one second, then do a sudden drop to 0, then jump up to 500 then do something else. It doesn't hold steady. When i'm cruising on teh freeway, it feels like the engine is missing, I feel the stutter, kind of like an instant slow-down, then normal. The stutter on the freeway is really bad, it's consistent. When i left off the gas, the stutter goes away.

What could this possibly be? Could a bad ISC motor casue this?

Thanks in advance!

Amongst other things, could be a huge boost leak at the intake manifold or somewhere. A boost leak check never hurts.

Interesting, i'll make a boost leak tester this weekend and see what happens...

Any other ideas on why in the world htis could be? how about my fuel filter? Could it be ultra-clogged?

has it always done this or is this just recently?
did you do any mods before it did this?

it sounds like a bad MAF...does your MAF have all the honeycombs in it?

Yup, my MAF has all the honeycombs in it, unless some fell out recently. Is there anyway for me to test whether or not my MAF is the problem?

Thanks!

Have you checked your camshaft position sensor and crank angle sensor? Also could be your throttle position sensor. If the throttle position sensor is sending the wrong information then it'll have eratic rpms especially at idle. Same with the camshaft and crank sensors. Has your CEL come on so that you can check it?

ok well it not so much as a surge as at 4k it bogs out if i let off the gas it trys to stall die and a odd clicking noise under load not there in Idle

edit amd when driving if i push the accl pedal to hard it seems to jump or misfire or sputter like i can barely accl

Same problem for me guys. Idle surges anywhere from 500 to 1500 and misses and knocks like crazy. once it gets a load on the motor it evens itself out somewhat but still spits and sputters a lot until i get on boost. in boost it runs like no ones businesses...

Mine was doing this when I forgot to plug in MAF, or when I forgot to connect the snorkel on my BOV.

I just got out of a very similar problem. It was a MAF issue. Try switching your MAF with a known working MAF. I run a GM MAF and upon disconnecting the MAF it seemed that the misfire and bucking stopped and it actually idled better.
