just found out that one of my balance shaft bearing spun out. my question is can i pull the front cover and replace the balance shaft with a elim kit and new front cover and my car be fine.

what did it sound like when the bearing went. did it knock/tick. I have this tick coming from my engine and it sounds like its from the intake manifold and i cant figure it out.

yeah it started as a little ticking noise coming from the rear of the car it never got that loud. change your oil and look to see if it has metallic particles in it. if it does then you have lost a bearing or is in the process of losing one!

Not if it's the front's rear bearing Which, of course, it will be.
the front shaft is not hooked up i cut that belt a while back good guess though. its the rear shaft, the oil pump shaft, that has failed. i come to find out that my driverside axle broke and knocked a small hole in my oil pan and to make things worse my oil warning light wire was not hooked up so there was no way to tell if i was low on oil. when i did realize that i needed some oil in my car it was too late the damage had been done. my oil pressure hand did not fall too much either  when i did i pulled over and no oil what so ever. i added a couple of quarts but too late. well i have some good news i just picked up my freshly machined engine from the maching shop yesterday so as they would say in the fight world "LETS GET READY TO RUMBLE" :talon:

My noise gets really loud, but like i said its there sometimes and sometimes its gone. It is exremely noticeable and almost can be mistaken for rod knock except its at top of the engine it seems, it echos loudest in the intake. Listening with a stethoscope doesnt even tell me where it is.

someone told me to raise my engine while in neutral and if i make any boost then its the balance shaft because the failed bearing is putting the engine under load and true enough when i raised the engine while the car was in neutral i made 10 to 15 lbs of boost.

Interesting - Balance Shafts are the root of all Evil... We oughta BAN every sumbitch on this Board with a functioning Balance Shaft! OMG

you got that right they are the first to go when there are any signs of oil starvation

anyone heard of fuel injectors making a loud ticking noise like a lifter, I MEAN REALLY LOUD!! Cause maybe i maxed them out on my 255 with the 15psi that i am running and thats what the noise is,
