First, I know... automatic on a turbo... bad. But it is my wifes car and she can't drive a manual. She was driving down the road when it stared, first it shifted funny, then it wouldn't go any faster than 45. At a red light, it sometimes wouldn't engage. She got about a mile more before it completely died and she called me. When I got there I checked and the transmission fluid wasn't even registering on the stick. When I tried shifting from park to reverse, nothing happened. The same happened with all other gears. We took my car to get some A/T fluid and filled it back up, I reset the codes and we started it up again. It rode fine for about a minute, as soon as the car stopped it wouldn't go again. Has this happened to anyone? I need to know what is wrong, and approx how much to fix it/parts. I've done a lot of engine repair, but never touched a transmission before.

Seems like we all had a bad day today. My manual GST died on me today..had to push my car off the road ready to get towed. Only difference was i didnt get it towed, i parked it in a visitor parking space, so im gonan have a mechanic come down and look at it. As far as your problem with the GST goes, i wouldnt necessarily say your transmission is dead. I dont know too much about auto transmissions but i just felt like sharing my sad story. However, check for a few things such as your timing..maybe something is misfiring. Or you can check to see if the timing belt is broken, usually a car wont go anywhere if the timing belt is done. Best of luck..i hope it works out well

Did the car give any signs of the transmission dying before it did? If not, then it sounds like you somehow lost all of your transmission fluid somewhere and turned everything to sh*t.
