I have a 93 tsi that is supposed to have a 6 bolt. A year before I bought the car, the engine went. The previous owner had a local shop put in a new, used motor (7 bolt, year unknown). This past weekend I was installing my act 2600 when I noticed that the flywheel could move in and out approx. .060 -.080" (1/16"-3/32"). The Main pully was doing the same , so I know that nothing was loose. When you start the car and push the clutch in, you can hear the ring gear hit the metal spacer plate.
Once in a while, while driving, the clutch will lose pressure for a second.
I'm pretty sure that this is crankwalk. What do you guys think. Also, how do I tell what year this motor is? Approx. how much time do I have to say goodbye to my motor if the cancer is terminal? And if I decide to get a 6 bolt, how much work is involved in the swap? Any help would be great.
