it only happens when the car is running(started) not with just the key turned on...everytime i push the AC button it comes on starts blonwing cold for like 5-10 seconds maybe 15 and then it starts to blink off and on and isnt blowing out cold air anymore...if u keep pressing it...it stays cold.....real cold too not like its just low....ive taken it in like 4 times and theyre retarded and just hook it up to the AC machine and see that it reads out as working fine...they never listen to what i tell them is wrong...personally i think its an electronic problem..anyone else have any ideas what this might be?

Try a different shop, one that only does AC systems or at least specializes in them. There's a little brain box in the AC system, mounted in the passenger footwell, the AC's own ECU- it may be dead.

If it's just your switch, 1G and 2G are the same.

And, you may just need a recharge. If you have a sight glass, look in it for bubbles coming past.

well as far as the ac shops one of them was one...they always just hook up whatever they have and test it out. then say its working fine...is there a way to just get one of those switches or do i need a whole instrument cluster? Also anyone that knows how to get rid of those retarded orange glow panels let me know i hate them too

Well, not to be dragging up old, dead threads.. but now that I'm getting my 96 GS ready for spring.. I have the exact same issue, and had the same issue last fall when I parked it in the garage for winter.

Even after recharging with the proper amount of freon, my Ac will blow cold and work great, UNTIL, I hit the highway and start getting up to 70 or so. At which point after 10 minutes, the green switch starts blinking... air goes warm (still blowing though) and it's bye bye AC, hello rolled down windows. I can get it to turn back on by turning the AC off and then on again but at that point it only lasts another minute or so before the same thing.

So far my research has led me to a bad magnetic clutch relay, or a bad magnetic clutch in the compressor itself. Obviously the compressor could just totally be shot, but from all the research I have done.. these seem to be my best leads. Even more so than the AC ECU mentioned here (although it could certainly be the culprit as well) But then I found references to a service issue on 2g's that specifically list an issue with the magnetic clutch, and then I found this about the high pressure port on the compressor:

03-55-005R AC - Compressor Pressure Relief Valve Service

So, I don't know.. I guess I'm just hoping someone might have some insight with the same blinking problem, thanks!
