Hey all... I know 0 about cars. I was looking into an eclipse gs (stock) 42k mi. 2001. They want 10800 for it (leather, spoiler, sun, power)..

Problem is that the front of the engine block has dried oil on it. It seems to be from the gasket of the top of the eng. where the oil goes in.

Seems stupid but the dealer is like it cost 50 to fix? Is this true or is that a sign of major issues???

Thanks again.. Any info/comments/recommend./questions Welcome!

Ok... But like I said I know nothing about cars and have no idea what you are talking about

Can anyone help with some advice on what is up with the car?

1g=1990-1994 dsm....eclipse, lasers, talons.
2g= 1995-1999 dsm
3g= well u figure it out..LOL

yes POS......buy a 2g (95-99).... the oil on the engine question all depends on where its coming from. it could just be spilled oil from a oil change, or it could be the valve cover gasket, or....etc....if u really want the car, drive it then check the engine and see if there is any fresh oil in the area. i work at a car dealership and i know that if they think they might sell a car, they should be more than happy to fix $50 problem (if thats what it really is.....) at their cost....

YO thank you!... Youre the only one here that actually answered my question. Im pretty sure it isnt from an oil changed... it didnt look like there was any new oil coming out of it. Its pretty much were the top and the bottom of the engine block meet.

You have a good point that they should be able to fix it if it isnt costly... Does anyone know what the factory warrenty is or if there is anything left on the powertrain?

All I want is a reliable car to drive not sup up for racing...

Thanks again for the ANSWER!
