Windsor,
Hi, I have a Talon 93 AWD turbo .My car is having a problem shifting gears. She runs fine for about an hour, then has trouble shifting into third gear. Grinds in, and grinds out of that gear.
It doesn't happen any other time,
I already changed the tranny fluid, and if this makes any difference, the transfer case was just changed from a recall. And this problem started well before any work i did (transfer case ....etc) was done.
Any suggestions would be appreciated on how to remedy this.

Thank you

If the ONLY gear you are having trouble with is 3rd, I would think that the syncros are worn.

If you are grinding comming OUT of any gear it seriously points to a drag on the clutch (bad surfaces or pilot bearing). This will cause all the syncros to work overtime going in and will wear them out too!!!!

Do you have any other symptoms. how does it go into and out of 3rd when the car is sitting still but running...easiest thing to rule out first is the cable tension.
