hey guys .... im quite concerned with the blowby i'm getting .... had the car tuned up and after a spirited drive noticed that the dipstick was popping up and the PCV breather was smoking .... I pinched the dipstick and now only the PCV breather smokes after a hard run .... before I got the car, my buddy had the head gasket done on the car as it blew, at that time the head was inspected and there was no problem there .... I'm thinking either rings or a faulty pcv valve .....

I talked to a friend Ian Currie who has a similar motor (Magnus 6bolt) and he said his dipstick pops out whenever he's on the dyno and punching it so he has some blowby as well .... he says to just go with a catch can and that my problem doesnt sound like anything to worry about ....

any thoughts would be greatly appreciated .... this weekend comes a compression and leakdown test to tell all but i'd like to consider all possibilities ....

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR TIME ...

Wes

Get a catchcan and replace your pcv valve w/ a genuine Mitsu pcv valve. Blowby is not too bad of a thing. Some DSM's w/ 100k plus are making extemely good power w/ a lot of blowby. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

this has to be the 3rd time ive heard this kind of question in like 10 minutes. but i had the same problem. and it is because your piston ring gaps are clogged with burnt up oil, you need to drop the pan and take off the head, and replace your piston rings, and while you do that, check out all the crusted on oil in your piston ring gaps, then in the oil control gap, there should be little holes in it. if you cant see it, it is because theyre clogged, you should get a small drill bit and with your hand, scrape out all the clogged up oil. then replace

No offense, but I would not go through all of that trouble. As long as your compression is good you do not have a whole lot to worry about. Blowby is not really a bad thing.

yea its all good. its just that i didnt want to keep puttin up with buying oil every 2 weeks to add into it. plus mine was burning it reaaalllly bad. and my gramps hooked it up with all the money, so it was nothing on my part except for the labor
