Hey guys and girls,

Just replaced front rotors and pads.
Pads: EBC Green Stuff
Rotors: stock (no aftermarket rotors in Holland, had to get stock at Satan's...110 euro's a piece, for the front!!).

Is it normal for the front rotors to get hot? Like so hot you cannot touch it for longer than say 3 seconds with your bare fingers? The back rotors are cool compared to the fronts. I can see that they get hot during heavy braking, but during normal city-cruising?
When I replaced the pads and rotors, the inner front pads rubbed against the rotor. They were also hard to get on those thin metal things (shims?) and seemed stuck, so I grinded a bit off the pads and now they
do move back and forth as they're supposed to. I also used Anti-seize grease on them. So is it normal for the rotors to get that hot?

Yes, that is the 'job' of the brake rotor. Brakes stop your vehicle by pressing the pads against the rotor causing friction that will slow your car down. But friction creates heat. That is why they are hot after you get done driving, and how hot depends on how hard you have been braking. :thumb:

The guys above are right. The rotors will get extremely hot from simple daily driving.

You may want to consider upgrading your calipers and rotors. I know you said there is no after market for you but you could get AWD front calipers and rotors. This will give you a decent amount more brake surface.

In addition to this you should clean and adjust the rear drum brakes (providing you have drum and not disc). The front brakes are responsible for over 75% of the brake work. The rest falls on the rear. If they are out of adjustment then the front brakes are doing even more work. Clean the rear and tighten them up. You'd really be amazed at how much better your brakes perform once they're properly maintained.
