96 GST, is this what is recalled?

Is it the ball joint itself? Just the boot? The problem is that we heard a thud sound while slowing down, and now it feels like we are constantly running over a bump. I took off the wheel and on the passenger front rear control arm (what I'm pointing to) where the ball joint meets the arm I was able to push and pull on it and it moves up/down about 1/2 an inch. Is this what is causing the sound? If so is this what is recalled? It's only coming from that corner of the car and the front control arm is solid, I can't move it period. The front rear arm feels like the ball is out/coming out of the socket. Would this cause the noise described above? Second pic #1 shows a bigger pic of the control arm/ball joint/boot. That's where I'm able to move it up and down. Thanks!

not the front - rear/lateral ball joints. Is this BS or is this true?? Here's the recall notice - DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE LOWER LATERAL ARM BALL JOINT FOR WEAR. BALL JOINTS THAT EXHIBIT WEAR BEYOND THE ESTABLISHED TOLERANCE WILL BE REPLACED WITH NEWLY DESIGNED LATERAL ARM BALL JOINTS. BALL JOINTS THAT ARE WITHIN THE ESTABLISHED TOLERANCE WILL BE CLEANED AND A SPECIAL SEALANT WILL BE APPLIED TO PREVENT INTRUSION OF MOISTURE

I thought lateral = side and the arm I'm pointing to is the front left - rear arm, and arent both the ball joints considered "lower" ball joints?
