so the problem is that my car wont start and i cant figure out why. it started with changeing my timing belt. a week after i was finished i started my car which i had been driving all week and hear it knocking, but not terrible. it was the same rythem as the lifters. so i didnt drive the car and when i tore it back down the t belt had slipped, i assume the crank pully was about 30 degrees out or so. so i redid it all making sure everything was done right and on time, or so i thought, and it didnt start. right now it is torn back down and im pretty sure its all aligned again. while its apart, does anyone have any ideas.

you think the engine rebulid is necessary even though it would start before with the knocking. when i tried to start it the second time i put it together it would turn over but would not fire. and i can turn it over with the ratchet twisting on the crank.

sometimes with the n/t you can get away with a belt jumping without doing any damage...prob due to the less agressive cams, turn your crank over six full revolutions and then check the marks......and then do a compression test and then let us know......:dsm:

i dont know about the compression yet, im working on getting a gauge, but the marks all line up after 6 rotations. what will the compression tell me if it is off, or if it is normal.

well heres what happened, i put everything back together to see if it would run before i checked the compression, becuase i could take it back if i didnt use it, and it ran. ran better than ever. but later that night i felt a power loss. then when it got cold and i tried to restart it, i discovered the belt slipped again. thanks for the posts, but from here ill pick up another thread on the tensioner since i figure that is the new problem. thanks
