I have an 91 talon tsi, and here's whats my problem...

I put it into second gear, and floored it......i guess this was a huge mistake because something made a loud clunky noise and then my car just started reving and not going anywhere....then all the sudden it would drive again fine. Now a few days went by, and then everything went crazy. While my car is in first gear, while the car is running, with no feet on any pedals, it still runs....now being a 5 speed in first gear with the clutch not in, wouldn't it stall? YES. So does this mean my clutch and/or flywheel are shot? I can still put it into every gear. I just got a 5 puck ceramic clutch in 4 months ago so i'm hope'n its not the clutch. BUT i was told my axles were going bad because of holes in my cv boots....now I can get brand new axels for 65 a peice. Could they just have broke completely and this is why i'm having issues and why my car just revs and doesnt move??

The car won't drive or move at all unless i'm pushing it while its in neutral. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me!

k, If ur Axles blew out that badly then its probly hanging

Look under ur car! Also, You MIGHT have blew ur clutch apart, but being FWD and 5 puck disk thats not old. Ide say ur axles or Center Diff.

Actually, No it would not stall out because if the clutch was bad, it would mean that the friction pads were burnt off of it and there would be nothing to keep the transmission turning if the fly wheel can't transfer the engines power to the input shaft via the friction disk.

Steve. :D

Okay, i got my car towed, and the guy said he thought it was an axle because it goes into all gears, and the pedal has pressure, but my axle boots are totally gone, and they were going bad anyway. My clutch and flywheel are only 4 months old so i dont understand why that would be an issue. I am about to go and buy axles but I don't know if thats a good idea if that isn't even the problem!

Any more help would be very much appreciated! :thumb:

well ur axles need replaced anyways since the boots are gone. might as well get them, Replace the axles, and see if that helps. if not, time to drop the trans.

Is it an AWD or FWD Tsi? To check the CV's grab the shaft and see if you can move it. If there is more then 1/8 of play those puppies are toast.

it's suppossed to be an AWD talon....but after the clutch was replaced, it turned to an fwd cuz i think the transfer case needs to be recalled....but as of now it shifts into all gears and has pedal pressure, only thing is the car doesnt move when you let the clutch out all the way, it just sits there and stays running...i'm hopeing its just an axle, cuz thats where the szound came from when i down shifted to second to give her some juice....

If anyone else wants to give me there two cents that'd be great, thanks for all the other replies....i live in michigan and can't really rip her apart till its a little warmer and stops snowing
