I am working on a 95 FWD 5 speed tsi for a freind of mine,he took the car to 2 dealerships and they were NO HELP,dumb asses...
The car idles and revs fine in the driveway, but driving the car it will stutter ,miss and shut down at boost range,2500 to 3000 rpm.
I have replaced the following...
maf sensor,boost selenoid,coil pack,wires,plugs,FPR,power transistor,throttle body and sensors,turbo and wastegate actuator,intercooler,map sensor and ecu...
The plugs are black and sootey and all the lines and hoses are tight,no leaks.
Could the problem be with the crank or cam sensor,or fuel pump or filter???
I am out of idea's,I need help fast guys, someone out there has an answer, let me know asap, this thing has been sitting for 2 months, thx alot for the help...:barf:

Have you pressurized the intake to check for a boost leak? It sounds like you've spent a lot of time and money trying to fix parts that aren't broken. The rubber hoses for the turbo system tend to split open after 10 years and it's hard to visually identify most boost leaks. Also, a boost leak from a tear in the hose won't show up at ide, rev, or under no-boost driving. As soon as you pressurize the pipes the problem starts and gets exponentially worse.

Agree make a cheap boost leak tester..
And it could very well be fuel..man you have changed everything in the electrical system..Could be pump or filter..

did you ever find out what teh problem was because I am having the same thing, I have replaces all that you listed and the fuel pump, fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator. any insight would be very help full.

redliner and sophat.. have you guys changed your plugs/wires? alot of people over look the importance of these two things..

i'd do this :

1. check for CEL
2. check for leaks [ intake test ]
3. check compression
4. change plug/wires

THEN move onto the more specific stuff..

I have a 1g cas on my car, I leak tested it to 40 lbs. for some reason it just decided to quit studering today. I have no explanation for this at all other than its cold to day around 40. mabey the car is just moody
