Every time I drive this 90 awd car in the rain or ice, when I hit a watter puddle the ass-end instantly kicks sideways, It drives perfectly strait on dry roads and snow, it only does this when the rear hits a puddle or a patch of ice.
I can somtimes hear a wawawawa sound when I go around corners on the highway. Could a bad wheel bearing or transfer case cause this?????
I ran it by the dealer and they said it happens because it is a light car and my rear tires are a little pow on tread(about 40% tread left).

Any advise please, I hate having to drive my rwd 94Z28 in the rain and snow, that aint right..

2 things.

The center diff could be messed up. and sending too much power to the rear.

and if it was victem of a swap, the rear could have the wrong ratio. makin it turn a little more than the front all the time.

is there any slop in the drive shaft, when engaging do you feel a thump?

Lordpaxin, I can always count on you for some advise, Thanks A Lot
Do you know how I can check the drive system to see if it is out of wack? And no it does not thump at all when I engage a gear or shift, the whole drive system seems perfect(real smooth)...........
As for the alignment, it was done a few months before I bought it,,,,,,,The crazyest thing is this car drives so strait, I mean perfect, like new,,,even better than my gst.

well, there is several methods,
The one I think would be the easiest, would be to lift it off the ground, and mark a spot on the front tire, and on the back tire. and roll the wheels like 20 times

and see if the back is moving a lot more than the front.

but things like brake rubbing, and tight bearings and what not, could affect this.

mabye some of the other members could recognize the rearend code number to see if its the right one.

on the back of the rear diff, there is a tag, that says a code. check it. and post.

Good god, I'd hate to see their idea of a heavy car. As usual, your dealer is dead wrong.

Has this thing ever been in a wreck?

Also, check the bushings in the rear suspension links.

mine used to "hop" when i would hit small bumps on the highway going around corners. i replaced my struts and it stopped. and as far as the humming noise, mine does that too and it won't stop. i think it may be bad wheel bearings in the back

Sorry I have not posted any replys yet, I broke my tailbone falling down some stairs a couple of days ago.
As for the car being wrecked, no never, I do not think it has even bumped a curb ever, at least all 4 wheels have no rub scratches at all.
I will check the bushings in the morn and post back,,,could bad bushings cause the ass end to break loose on water puddles?

sorry to bring an old thread back but i needed an answer b/c this is killing me...when it is raining and the roads are wet, the back end of my car LOVES to slide out and then correct it self. It makes me so damn nervous, I dont need to drive like this. Is there anything I can check? I read previously about the bushings? How do I go about checking these???
This is really a bad problem and I am now having to avoid driving in the rain.

WOWWWWW... does anybody have any real advice for me?

why fight such a fun thing

got to love that rear active toe especially with old ass bushings

or wait should i give you advice after all you never stated the condition struts, bushings for suspension in rear, mount for bushings for rear end, you never checked the play in the wheel bearings. are the calipers frozen. did you look for over spray. do you have a limited slip fluid in the rear or a limited slip additive. oh that poor tired old differential he just wants to enjoy his life.

remember vaque description of condition of car means crappy help for you

any how this belongs in suspension tuning

see i dont know anything about any of that, the description i gave is all that i could come up with. I need to know how to check these parts.
