Ok i just installed the Air fuel gauge, i used just the body for a ground, the accessory wire on hte stereo for the power and the middle white wire for the 02, the gauge works fine, now when i come to a stop the car wants to stall, whats goin on..? i have had this problem before, but it was when my BOV was not on right.... PLEASE HELP!!!!

Just disconnected the power wire, and it is fine now, is my alternator going, cuase in the morning my belts SQUEEL!! any one...????

I connected the ground to where i grounded my boost gauge (still Seperate wires) my one friend told me that it needs to have its own ground. the belts SQUEEAL in the morning, at night, or when the car is cold. and when they do squeal the lights dim. i felt the belts they seem to be pretty tight, i have sprayed belt dressing, and WD-40 on them, whcih only helps a little. other mods, Greddy BOV, Dave brode UIC, Injen intake, and autmomter boost....

Well.. if you're shorting out your car, it can make enough drag on the alternator to make your belts squeek.

If you disconnect the power wire, and everything gets better then inspect that gauge for shorts.

Don't spray WD-40 on belts. While it may stop the squealing, that's because it's just making the belts slip instead... then they don't turn the way they're supposed to. Belt dressing is okay, but it's more likely that your belt is just relaxing, and you need to adjust the tension on the alternator slightly (happens to me when it's very cold).

Make sure you have the gauge wired up properly too. How did you connect the signal wire from the gauge to the O2 sensor? You have to splice it in, not break that connection.

I have the singnal wire spliced in, i used one of those plastic pieces with the metal that you push down on, and it breaks the insulation, as for the power, i have that wired in to (just twisted) with one of the plastic screw caps to the power on my CD player... maybe that is where i went wrong, should it be the accessory, or the power wire? i have noo clue, i dont even know why i bought the damn AF gauge!

Just a word of advice... never use those vampire taps. They often lead to unreliable to connections... either poor connections all the time, or they break/deteriorate later.

How do you suggest i hook it up, or just leave it there, i know it doesnt really do anything for me, and is just a light show.... thanks....

Solder all connections, vampire taps suck - they come loose and don't provide a clean connection. You are supposed to tap the accessory 12V+. So wait...if you disconnect the power wire, the squeeling goes away??? Try tapping the power in a different location. On a 95 Eclipse (should be the same for a 96), at the ignition harness, the blue/black wire is accessory 12V+, try tapping there. Good luck!

So i should Cut the 02 wire from the ECU, and then solder them together, and thanks for the info on the other source for power. As for the belts, they squeak all the time, it started when it got Really cold out for the first time, then it got warmer for like a week, and the one day they didnt squeal at all, now its cold again and still squealing, i should tighten it up, but i am affraid i am gonna make it too tight! thanks again...

that squealing might not be related to the wiring at all. on my 95 gsx its squealed and i've tightened the belts and retightened them.. and to come to find out, my water pump is goin bad. the antifreeze is leaking down thru it to the bearing on the pulley of the water pump when it's cold. once it warms up the squealing goes away. on the bottom of the water pump there is a little seep hole that the antifreeze drips out very slowly. i noticed it when i was changing my oil filter and realized the last year of driving it's been my water pump and not that the belts were too loose or too tight. but the water pump takes the mechanic books i've seen say it takes 5 hrs to fix and it's not that easy of a job. the pump is only about 60 to 80 dollars... but labor is around 230 for the average shop.

i just picked up a 1990 eclipse today and it ran awsome drove it all around town, it was running perfect. i when out around 10 pm and i started it up and it was making a realy loud squeely noise, and when i woule poke at the throttle wit my foot it would do it up untill 1500 rpm when driving it it would not do it only when in nutral
