Turbo Problems

Alright, so tonight I go into town and my car is running good. Good boost and good pull. All gauges are going good. Then, I get in my car to go home and my car doesn't like to go above about 3,000 rpms. It about dies if I do. My boost gauge only goes to about 3 psi when I am actually running about 14 psi and my A/F gauge(I know you guys say it is worthless) says I am running all the way rich. I have vitually no modifications and I am confused. I got home all the right, but my car only felt comfortable in about 4th gear going around 40 mph and we know that is not right...please help. Is it my turbo or what? I am confused as hell. Thanks in advance.

when you say it doesnt go over 3k rpms, and if it does it stalls, is it like skipping up to 3k or smooth but limited to 3k????

Sounds a lot like a boost leak, look for hoses that are not attached if you don't find any do a pressure test.

It is smooth, but limited to 3k rpms. Will a boost leak also make me run pretty rich? Or I guess my A/F gauge just could be messing up if I do have a boost leak. I am going out to eat some dinner with my family and then me and my bud are probably going to try and find that damn leak...hopefully that is what it is and not something that is going to be costly. If you have a good sized boost leak you will run rich, your MAS registers air that leaks out after the compressor turbine, since it sees this air it adds more fuel (richening your mixture) but the air leaks out and doesn't get to the chamber(s). When you accel hard and the boost comes on do you feel it like normal?

My car feels like it wants to pull hard at first, but then it just stops. I get no boost pressure or anything. I took it for a little ride this morning and it was still doing the same thing. I was wondering if it was okay to drive it to my friends house about 3 miles away or if that would be bad for it? Sorry for all the questions, but thanks for the answers.

I went to my friends house and he found the leak right away. It was the connection between my UICP and my SMIC that we must've kept a little loose last time when we cleaned my intercooler. That made me happy. No money spent for me, just a couple scratches on Frontwheeler's knuckles. Thanks for the answers to all my questions and the aid in knowing what it was. Also a big thanks goes out to my bud Frontwheeler. Between this website and him, the sky is the limit for my GST.
