Hey guys...im pretty new to dsmtuners...I bought my '98 GS-T about 6 months ago but didnt really have the money to start doing stuff to it. I started a couple of months ago by purchasing a blitz bov. I installed it but it was not recirculating back to the factory intake at this time i had no idea of what was goin on. For the first few weeks i detected no problems at all..i was a really big fan of the ...woooosh..woooosh.....but a few weeks ago the real trouble began... i was driving and the bov went off..immediately after my car just completely shut off...i was like whoaa!...so then i turn the ignition and it started up again....i kept goin home and all of a sudden my anti lock brakes kept going off outta nowhere. My battery was pretty much dead at this time so i decided to get a new one thinking that that would solve my problem. But it did not because on my way to school exiting the freeway my car shutoff on me almost making me get into a huge accident. I immediately removed the bov and all those problems went away. So now i have read about bov and all and i come to the conclusion that an HKS SS bov is not a bad choice. My question is ...is it ok that i allow this bov to flow air into the atmosphere or do i HAVE TO have this bov recirculating into my factory intake? I really like the sound but if it has to be recirculated then it would not make the sound anymore, right? so what bov can i get that would not damage my car and still allow the sound to come out? or should i get the HKS and recirculate it? thankyou very much guys! sorry for all the questions but i care for my car and want it to be running good..plus im a newbie..thanks!

There are plenty of threads about BOV venting, so try to find the answer in the search engine next time.

Unless you buy an aftermarket air metering system (VPC, GM MAF translator, etc.) you have got to recirculate BOV air into the engine or the fuel ratio gets screwed up and that's why your car is dying. People will tell you otherwise, but trust me, they're stupid. Get the HKS SSQV, it's what I've got, and buy the recirculation fitting too. The HKS valve outlet is shaped differently and makes a louder noise than the stock BOV, even when recirculated. Mine is recirculated and it's still very loud. Hope this helps.
