What sensor is this?

Hi, me and my dad noticed this thing which i'm guessing is some type of sensor but I just don't know where it goes. However when I drive, there is no lights that come on in the dash. If you know what it is, could you please tell me what it is and where it goes. thank you

Do you think if i just get under the car, I'll find where it goes? I looked in my fsm but didn't see capillary tube temperature sensor. Could it have another name?

Do you have an aftermaket water temp gauge in the car? Looks like that is what it is

well when i got the car, it did come with an oil temp. guage that wasn't even hooked up yet. Maybe thats what it is! i'll check it tomorrow.
