Pulley Broke ?????

I WAS DRIVING SOME CIVIC REVED AT ME SO I AM IN 1ST GEAR AND I BOOST AND THEN SHIFT TO 2ND GEAR AND THE AC BELT CAME OFF AND THE PULLEY MOVES IN AND OUT THE LOWEST PULLEY IN THE SHORT BLOCK

Sounds like the crank pulley is either worn or has separated. Take your driver's side wheel off, then the inside of the fenderwell (the piece that contains the rubber plug used to access the crank pulley). Then you'll have access to the crank pulley. Chances are the rubber is all worn and deteriorated. Give it a wiggle back and forth. You can either hit up the junkyard or get a new one from the dealer (should be around $100-125?). Easy install...put 1/2" drive in center of crank pulley and loosen the 4 bolts and remove all accessory belts (water pump, power steering, a/c) and put the new one back on with the belts. Me and Steve are available Saturday if you wanna do it then? Call up South Park Mitsu and ask for the parts department (412-831-0700) and order a new crank pulley. Ask for a discount too...it's like 15% off.

And shut the damn CAPS LOCK key off!

Seeing how frequently this occurs, I would strongly suggest not using a used one. Just buy one from the dealer. Should be $80-90 from www.partznet.com or www.mitsupartsdirect.com.
