starter not turning over...

starter isnt turning over... was fine one sec.. started car up and drove to friends house... then when i went to leave the starter wouldnt turn over and hasn't ever since then.. i replaced the starter and still nothing. i checked all the grounds and they are good. what else could it be? it sounds like i can hear the starter engage but not turn. thanks

Check for weak battery or battery cables that are not making good solid and clean contact with what they attach to. The slightest dirt, corrosion, etc will add enough resistance to not allow the full amount of current the starter needs. Remove cables, clean, re-attach.
