Stubborn Tranny

Just a few hours ago my pappy and I finished pulling the bottom end and tranny (still bolted together) out of my 90' Talon. So, the motor's hanging from the lift we borrowed, and we can't figure out how to get the Transmission off the block. My pappy figured after all the bolts were take out, it should slide off. That didn't work. So we popped the two rubber deals off, and rotated the fly wheel to un-bolt the six bolts there, then tried to pull it off again; nothing.

So I'm hoping someone can help me. We have ALL the bolts out, and for some reason it just WON'T come off. On the exhaust side of the block, we can wedge the tranny off the block about half an inch to an inch, but on the intake side, it won't go past 1/4'th an inch.

Anyone?

make sure you got the bolt thats under the starter it should just pop off

Just checked and it's out. I looked under the block, and saw that the part of the tranny that goes under the block (I have AWD) is pressed up against the bottom. It's acting like their's a bolt still in it, but we spent a good hour going over it, so that's not the problem.

double check the transfer case and make sure you got all the bolts out of it. Now you have to pry the transfer case off of the transmission. Now the engine and transmission will seperate. The transfer case (the part of the tranny that goes under the block) has to come off for the tranny to come off the engine.

Ah! Transfer case. That was on the tip of my tongue, but I just couldn't remember it.

Alright, thanks a million! Soon as the transfer case was pried off, the tranny practically fell away from the block. I'll be spending the week cleaning up the bay, tranny, replacing the front axles, and getting everything ready for my first real motor replacement. Got a 30k mile JDM longblock waiting for the weekend.
