first of all HI, im new but not new to tuning, but i am new to dsm's, all ive had is hondas and ive never had these kinda problems, yes i did search and i havent found any answers to this idle control problem, now the dealer says it's my idle control valve which maybe it is maybe not but i dont wanna dish out 200 bones for a new one unless im for sure it's that, i cleaned it today, and it's worse, first it would ide at 1500 and then 2k when warmed up, then it stated surging from 600-2000, but only after running it hard, now it does that all the time, so is there any for sure or close to for sure parts other than the idle control valve that it could be i ma ive checked everything and it looks good nothings loose all hoses vacumes on good, 1 more thing befor i have a greddy BOV whats the soft and hard settings on it for? alright well hope to hear from you guys about some answers soon as i wanna fix this it's really eating up my gas and it pisses me off.

You should be able to check the ISC, using a digital volt ohm meter. If the coil resistances are outside of specifications, you can assume that it is bad. Have you checked them yet? You can usually pick up a used ISC for about $50 on Ebay. I actually bought one for $3.25 once. The one in my present car is one that I rebuilt using good parts from 2 bad ISC servos.

i had a similar problem, with my stock air filter and no airbox it would stall randomly. and also jerk ALOT, kinda like riding a bull. well after inspecting the airbox area i knoticeed taht there was a black wire, turns out that it was attached to one of the bolts on the aircan. once i put on a k&n filter and hooked that wire to my chassis for ground it ran smooth. having my ide turned upto to 1300 base it would still surge about 400 +/-
from the 1300 base. i now turned it down to 800 and it almost nevere surges. sometimes drops to 600 breifly then hangs at at and bounces between 800-1000~. it still bucks when the car is warmed up ar almost no throttle onle (like trying to cruse) but that is due to the filter being exposed to all that heat. im makinig a heat sheild and extending the filter about 4 inches to the fender side so that that problem will be fixed.:dsm:

P0505..... IAC valve system fault, thats the code it's giving me, is the isc basicaly the only part that goes hand in hand with this code or is there other parts, cause i got a fairly cheap isc off of a mech at mitsu, so i might as well throw in any other parts since i saved all that money, any ideas guys, thanx. not sure if i mentioned this but it's a 98 gs-t
